The Little Church Around the Corner

Original Carlos Anderson (1905 to 1978) WPA depression-era lithograph print known as the “Little Church Around the Corner”,  although unsigned.   Known for his strong urban landscape images, he worked in the NYC Graphic Arts Division of the WPA program in the 1930s.
The church is located at 1 East 29th Street and is also known as the Church of the Transfiguration, and a popular site for weddings. Print is in excellent condition. Beautifully framed in rich walnut, under glass, matted.

  • Plate measures 14″ x 10″
  • Framed size  26 x 18″ 
  • Unsigned
  • Print and frame in excellent condition. There is some reflection in the center of the photo that is from my phone/camera. The Print itself is pristine with no such shadow. 
  • Also in the collection of many noted Museums, with a large group at the Springville Museum of Art in Utah. 
  • The last photo shows a vintage image of the actual church; not included with the print.

Eastman Kodak Cinegraph 16mm Film Lindbergh Captures New York 8503,Box,Can, 1927

LindberghWonderful historical 16 mm film, issued by Kodak Cinegraph around 1927, “Lindbergh Captures New York” after his flight, No. 8503. Has original box, original can, AND the leader showing the name of the film. 

Condition of film appears excellent, but we haven’t tested it.

Box has some wear as shown in photos, as does the can.

Faint fragrance of moth balls on the box, presumably from how it was stored.

Antique 1886 Photo Souvenir Book NIAGARA FALLS – Wittemann / Glaser

We were lucky to find a wonderful Antique Souvenir Album book “Views of Niagara Falls”, published in 1886 by Adolph Wittemann, New York, using photo-views by Louis Glaser’s process.

The album is 4-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ with an Accordion fold with 12 photo-lithograph panels showing the American Falls, Horseshoe Fall, Suspension Bridge, Maid of the Mist, Prospect Park, Biddle’s Stairs, Goat Island, Great Western Railway bridge, Canada Southern Railway bridge, Whirlpool and more.

The Original decorative red paper covered boards stamped in gilt is in overall very good condition with some minor scuffs on edges and covers.  The photos are beautiful and in excellent condition.

This would make a wonderful addition to a sophisticated collection of photographs, books and memorabilia of Niagara Falls, New York and Canada.
