Wow, what a cute little bisque doll! Here is a charming antique TINY 6-1/2″ Child Doll marked Simon Halbig K Star R for Kammer & Reinhardt. Made in Germany, Bisque head, sleep eyes, open mouth with teeth, Composition 5-piece jointed body with painted stockings & strap shoes. The mechanism for attaching the legs to the torso is interesting, as shown in the photos.
It is so much fun finding little treasures like this in such out-of-the-way places. By the way, Simon Halbig was a German company that started making dolls around 1870 and continued for about 50 years. Any other doll companies purchased their doll heads from S&H. Kammer & Reinhardt, the manufacturer of this doll, was one of the companies that purchased doll heads from S&H. It is excellent to know that outsourcing was thriving almost 150 years ago. Who knew?
