We’re selling an interesting group of antique silver Souvenir Spoons fresh from a local collection. Late 1800’s through early 1900’s for most. Very good to excellent overall condition, need a polishing to be even prettier.
Pictured here is one of the oldest in the collection. Engraved Civil War era 1865 spoon with the Revolutionary War decorated General Daniel Morgan represented in the figural design. Engraved with the inscription he received when he got the Congressional medal, reads: “Victoria Libertatis Vindex – Victory, the protector of Liberty.” Most likely given to a Civil War Soldier.
Also marked “SPARTANBURG”, and engraved “Tom, May 5th, 1865″ on back of bowl. HEAVY & substantial, over 27 grams of sterling. Measures 5-1/2”. FASCINATING historical memorabilia.
