Antique Child Dish Tea Set 23p Victorian Box RS Prussia

We sell new items in our www.buyconnectibles.com store.  However, our really BIG business is our mostly vintage collectibles in our eBay store at www.connectibles.net.  This is an example of a rare item we picked from a local collector last week.Child's Tea Service  This a beautiful antique Child’s service for 6, original box with VICTORIAN design and French graphics.  According to the book R. S. Prussia: The Formative Years  by Leland & Carol Marple on page 166, this set is attributed to R.S. Prussia.  The set handles, spouts, etc., have been attributed to the Reinhold Schlegelmilch plant in Tillowitz. Circa 1894 – 1905, this box probably dates it to the earlier date.

(This is one) of approximately 1500 items in our store.  Our items represent many categories of collectibles.  We pride ourselves in searching out, and being able to find, rare and vintage items from local and regional collectors.  Since our recent retirement, this quest to rescue these item and bring them to our loyal customers has become a real passion.  I guess you could say it is one of our contributions to the green recycling effort.

Pullip TAEYANG Neo Angelique RAYNE Anime

WTaeyang-Raynee have fallen in love with these beautiful Pullip Dolls. Pullip is a fashion doll that expresses today’s present feeling. She stands 30cm tall (about 12 inches), and she is fully articulated. The body is about 9 inches tall (1:6 scale), the size of many fashion dolls such as Barbie and Jenny. Pullip can open and close her eyes, and look side to side. A new Pullip Fashion doll is issued every month in limited numbers. Each doll comes with a unique outfit and accessories, trading card and a doll stand.

The Pullip dolls by Jun Planning GROOVE are not as well known, but they have a very strong Japanese style to them, and they evoke the very popular Blythe doll – sort of a Blythe granddaughter! Quite remarkable to see, and highly collectible.  Please take a look at these beautiful dolls (and others) at www.BUYCONNECTIBLES.com.

Barbie’s FASHION SHOP – 1963

Barbie's Fashion Shop

Barbie's Fashion Shop

We’re very excited about finding such an unusual vintage Barbie playset that offers wonderful display possibilities!  I’ve never seen one before, and it’s likely to be a long time before another one is found.

While in New Hampshire we came across “Barbie’s FASHION SHOP” playset, including a showcase, furniture, wardrobe stage, window cabinet and some accessories. 1963 set is cardboard and the hardest part is done – it’s already assembled. Original 16 page instruction booklet is included.  Here are the details:

  • Platform panel is 44″ x 24″ when opened. Highest portion is 18″. LARGE set for dramatic display!
  • Set is complete and overall VERY good condition with some wear to edges. Missing Mannequin arms and base to “Showcase”. There is a BONUS extra chair that is included.
  • Sections include a Stage, Mirror, Table, 3 chairs, Showcase (some scratch wear to plastic inserts but a really fun piece to personalize), Corner unit with a “hat display section”, Wardrobe Stage with curtains, Window Cabinet with Mannequins,, and a folding floor with strap.
  • ALSO includes miniature magazines, invitations and fashion cards as shown in photos.
  • What a great find, check out the video to see the entire set.  More pictures are available at.

Miniature Cottage Collecting

Welcome to the world of miniature cottage collecting! We’re delighted to be offering a large selection of nearly 300 items from a discerning and avid collector. Small cottage collections are very popular, and are used to create charming, scenic old world towns in a miniature scale.
Historically accurate, some collectors display them by series, by location of the original real cottage, or by villages. Model train enthusiasts use them as to enhance their exhibits, as the small scale trains & small size cottages complement each other very well. Enthusiasts of the model trains meticulously recreate the realistic scenes with trees, tracks, trains and cottages.
We’re offering both current and retired cottages, castles, shops, pubs and more from several of the most desirable lines of Cottage Collectibles. Included are:
LILLIPUT LANE: Established by David Tate in 1982, whose aim was to create the most accurate miniatures architecturally the world has ever seen. The Lilliput Lane cottages are acclaimed for the attention to authenticity and detail.
FRASER Creations:a superb range of mainly British famous castles, lighthouses, buildings and landmarks known throughout the world for their quality of detail and precise reproduction in miniature. Unfortunately these fine models of historic buildings have sadly ceased production. The remaining stock therefore represents the last opportunity to possess these highly detailed treasures.
IRISH Heritage Collection features remarkable miniatures made in Ireland of castles, pubs, and more.

International Buyers on eBay

I am constantly amazed at the number of sales that we have Internationally. The best countries are Canada, England, Australia, Japan, France and Germany. I think one onf the reasons is the reasonable shipping charges (USPS) for items that weigh less than 4 pounds. These can be shipped First Class Mail International for very resonable rates. In addition, The Endicia mail service allows you to buy insurance on these items to most countries. I think the combination of these two things are rerassuring to the international buyers.
Another service we use is the My Stores Map, a service that we include in the bottom of our eBay listing that show the country (state) where each one of our orders are shipped. This also gives the international buyers a safe feeling knowing that we understand how to ship to international countries. For example, we have shipped 147 orders to England and 74 to Australia.

Singer Featherweight 221 BLACKSIDE Sewing Machine – what we've learned!

We’ve been learning about why vintage Singer Featherweight 221 Sewing Machines are so popular with quilters and collectors – they even have a fan club! We’re excited to have discovered a very special version while treasure hunting here in Ct. The word RARE is greatly overused, but in this case it’s appropriate!

Singer BLACKSIDE machine was tucked away in storage in a local home, and we’re delighted to offer it as there are apparently ONLY 198 similar machines documented anywhere! Authentic BLACKSIDES are therefore so hard to find – ours is from 1941, just tuned up and working beautifully. Made pre-war when Chromium was in short supply, has black face plate along with other identifying “black” parts.

Terrific opportunity to have one of the MOST collectible versions of this popular Featherweight machine, so take a look at the BLACKSIDE we now have running! So glad this machine will soon be in the home of a lucky collector, instead of sitting unappreciated in a closet for decades here in Connecticut.
We also found a terrific site that is the “go-to” reference source for everything you want to know about 221 FEATHERWEIGHT Singer machines if you’d like to learn more.

Off on our next “treasure-hunting” adventure!

Data General One

Well, I finally got around to listing two of my vintage computers, the Data General One and the Toshiba Libretto 50CT. The DG/1 was the first real laptop that was advertised as having the power of a desktop. There was a great review of the DG/1 back in the day, here is the link for a good read from Creative Computing magazine from November 1985. This beauty works and comes with several DOS disks. Quite a find!

A Diecast Bonanza

We recently went to an auction in Central Connecticut that featured a large collection of mostly diecast models – cars, motorcycles, tractors and airplanes. A HUGE collection and from a local collector. I was astounded at the number of tractors this collector owned. We picked up some very nice inventory of Mint in Box items.

I am amazed at how much I enjoy going to these auctions and browsing through the inventory looking for usual or unique items to bring to our eBay store. But the big plus is the research that it takes to properly identify the items. If you think about it, it is very difficult to sell something at the right price that is not described properly. If the item it is not described properly, no one can find it on eBay. Finding the correct keywords that people use to search for items is a real art. As time goes on we get better and better. BTW I grew up on a farm in Ohio and here is a picture of a very cool tractor.
