CMC Ferrari Dino 156 F1 1961 Sharknose Phil Hill # 2 & Graf Berghe von Trips # 3 1:18 Scale M-069 & M-068

Pictured to the left is a magnificent CMC Diecast Ferrari Dino 156 F1 “Sharknose” GP Italien 1961 Phil Hill Limited Edition # 2. This model was removed from the box for photographs only, never displayed New in Box. This is a classic F1 racer, and the German engineering makes it truly a work of art.

The box is in mint condition and is complete with all documentation and accessories including a small screwdriver and a CMC polishing cloth. This model was produced under license with Ferrari Spa.

Pictured on the right is the CMC Diecast Ferrari Dino 156 F1 “Sharknose” GP Deutschland 1961 Graf Berghe von Trips Limited Edition # 3.

The 1961 Formula 1 season came up with a completely new rule type. The racing teams had to switch their engines from 2.5 to 1.5 litres. Ferrari found itself in a very good position. They had developed a V6 mid-mounted engine with a 120 degrees cylinder angle and a maximum output of 190 hp. The new 156 F1 had a very unusual front design. So pretty soon, many people gave it the nickname Sharknose. Technically and ostensibly, the 156F1 was the most successful development in 1961.

The season ended for the Scuderia with a large success but also with a disastrous tragedy. Phil Hill became the first American Formula 1 World Champion. The German Ferrari star Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips, that led the ranking for most of the season, became involved in a deadly accident in Monza. Never before joy and teariness was that close on just one day.

Annotation: It is factual that no original Ferrari 156 F1 exists in the whole world. But after months of meticulous research and contacting countless Ferrari experts, CMC was able to get all necessary data for a harmonious model development. Thanks to that kind of knowledge about the car and its famous drivers, we are in a position to accomplish this mission impossible with true-to-the-original details and the well known CMC craftsmanship and quality.

Andy Rooney Estate – Two Madame Alexander 1954 MARY ELLEN Companion Dolls 31″ Twin

We were fortunate to have participated in an estate sale at Andy Rooney’s Connecticut home a few weeks ago.  (scroll below for a picture of the house and the crowd waiting.)  This was a very special event, and gave us an opportunity to obtain some wonderful collectibles to bring to you, his loyal fans.

Rooney had 2 identical twin girls, born in 1950. At the estate sale they were offering the 2 companion PLAYPAL size dolls that each girl was given in 1954- 1955. This listing features Twin “A” doll – a Madame Alexander MARY ELLEN hard plastic 31″ large companion size walker.  Unusual MA walker doll, only offered for one year by Alexander.  Especially interesting because of the Rooney twins connection.

Doll Details:

  • Hard plastic, rooted nylon hair, sleep eyes, very lovely mouth.
  • Face paint is excellent, overall condition very good with some scuff marks on paint as shown in photos.  Overall VERY clean, original hair style can use a little refreshing but still excellent.
  • Stringing is loose in legs and she cannot stand on her own; we are including a doll stand.
  • Outfit is not original MA but is 1950’s untagged and charming; bloomers & socks & shoes I believe are factory original. Includes a vintage ladybug pin for extra sweet detail that was placed on the top of the collar!  All clothing shows some wear (some tears on nylon socks) but the ensemble displays very nicely and is of the fifties.

The two dolls have been together for over 60 years; we have them listed separately, but it would be so excellent if bidders have interest in keeping them as a set.

Please check our eBay Store Connectibles for these dolls and other Andy Rooney collectibles.
