Battery Operated Vintage Toy FISHING Pecheur RC 70s VIDEO

We’re very excited to be offering a very special group of 1950’s through 1970’s tin vintage toys, fresh to market after being in storage for decades at the collector’s home. Quality ranges from “top of the line” new in boxes for discerning collectors, but also includes wonderful opportunities for the beginning Toy collector as well.  VERY entertaining, delightful adult collectibles for the “young at heart!”

Pictured here is one of the MOST fun of all!   FISHING Pecheur (French for fisherman) combination battery operated and remote control toy, made in China 1970’s.  ORIGINAL box with wonderful graphics. Early 1970’s toys made in China are also considered very collectible. NOT the same quality as current mass produced toys from CHINA, these vintage toys are very nicely made.

This Toy includes vinyl head fisherman in his boat, holding a fishing pole with magnet. Set includes 5 magnetized fish .

Remote Control allows you to raise up his arm once fish has been “caught”, and IF you are patient and get it just right, he reels the fish into boat and slaps it with other hand to drop it into boat! Doesn’t come easy to do this – takes arranging things “just so”, but you can see in Video that we did it!  Find battery operated toys in our connectibles store.

  • You also can easily control the boat taking a “rocking ride” that looks like he’s riding the waves looking for his next catch! I LOVE this toy – it is incredibly fun!
  • 12″ long
  • Overall condition is very good but needs a clean-up. Click on photos to enlarge and see details.

We’re selling a fabulous group of vintage cutout PAPER DOLLS, fresh from a local collector. Classic 1950’s for most, UNCUT and very exciting to find. Wonderful and unusual opportunity to add to your advanced collection, OR to start a new collection.

Also shown here is a DEBBIE REYNOLDS cut-out dolls by Dell, 1953. Unpunched, authorized edition set of 2 statuette dolls and clothes.  These and many other famous movie stars are available in the connectibles store.

The following recent article in the New York Daily News by David Hinckley talks about some of the history between these two famous movie stars and their common husband – Eddie Fisher.

“Some of the coverage of Elizabeth Taylor’s death today has reminded us in passing that Liz and Debbie Reynolds made up.

This is a fact that deserves a moment of its own.

Because in a life with as many loose ends as Taylor acquired over 79 eventful years, it’s comforting to know at least one of them was tied up, especially since it involved one of Hollywood’s top-five all-time love triangles.

It also says sometimes in this world there is justice.

For those who missed it, Taylor scandalized the world in 1959 by stealing Reynolds’ husband, Eddie Fisher.

Husbands get stolen all the time, of course. But not by world-famous Hollywood glamour goddesses and not under these circumstances.

When Taylor was married to Mike Todd, she and Mike became best friends with Fisher and Reynolds, who were themselves an “America’s sweethearts” kind of story. The two couples hung out, had a few drinks, whatever.

Then Todd was killed in a plane crash and Taylor looked for comfort from her good friend Debbie. And, it turned out, from her better friend Eddie.

As Debbie recounted it to the Daily Mail in a long interview last year, she initially dismissed rumors of an affair. Then one night when Eddie was “on tour” and Debbie was feeling like a little conversation, she called her good friend Elizabeth. Eddie answered the phone.

That’s never a good sign.

It wasn’t a very smart move by Eddie, either, which is one of the first clues that maybe Elizabeth wasn’t the only thoughtless party involved here.

Anyhow, Debbie divorced Eddie, who immediately married Elizabeth, who five years later dumped him for Richard Burton, who had a bit of a drinking problem and was still an upgrade.

In any case, Debbie told the Mail, she was on a cruise with her new husband Harry Karl around 1966 when she learned Liz and Burton were on the same boat. At almost the same moment Liz and Debbie sent notes to each other suggesting they forget all that unpleasantness over Eddie and have lunch.

From that point on, says Debbie, all was forgiven if maybe not entirely forgotten. Reynolds and Taylor stayed in touch and in 2001 starred in a TV movie called “These Old Broads,” which was written by Carrie Fisher, who was one of the two young children with whom Eddie left Debbie when he bolted for Liz.

Don’t feel bad if you can’t keep track. It’s Hollywood, people. And by the way, Harry Karl turned out to be an even bigger lout than Eddie. He didn’t break Debbie’s heart, but he did gamble away all $50 million of her money, forcing her to file for bankruptcy.

Nor did it work out for Liz and Burton, either the first or second time.

So the moral of this story, or maybe the “justice”
part, is that smart women don’t let some stupid man break up a relationship that delivers actual value.

Plus, the way it worked out, a tale of scandal, betrayal, abandonment and heartache had a happy ending. Hollywood was good to Elizabeth Taylor and in the end, she gave back.”

WPA history Graphic Art PRINT Division Limited Editions

After the crash of 1929 and the Depression that followed, 25% of the nation’s work force was unemployed. The Works Progress Administration/Federal Arts Project (known as WPA / FAP) was formed in 1935 as a work-relief program for artists who were admitted after establishing financial need and displaying artistic ability. In the 8 years of it’s existence, 1935-1943 when the program ended due to WW II, 5,000 muralists, painters, sculptors, printmakers, photographers and poster designers were provided a wage.

The Graphic Arts Division was established for printmakers and provided an extraordinary opportunity for creating a body of accessible, affordable public art limited edition prints that reflected the social mission to improve and change conditions. Subjects chosen for the work included typical scenes from American daily life, both rural and urban, as well as industrial scenes that have become icons of the era. Some worked with realism, others worked in styles of Cubism & Surrealism. Photos below show some of the rich and varied prints from the New York City Graphic Arts collection that we can offer.

Regardless of style, each print was only produced in LIMITED EDITIONS of up to 25 per image. Some prints are signed and stamped, some are not, but all that we present on EBAY have been authenticated and documented as original. The program ended in 1943 with our entry into the war, as the defense industry employed so many American Workers that unemployment was virtually a thing of the past. The WPA, which was no longer needed, ended.

Many of the prints at that time were destroyed or sold as scrap material. Some collections were fortunately saved by far-sighted private collectors and provide a fascinating look at a most unique time in our nation’s history.  A variety of WPA prints are available in the connectibles store.

WPA Museum Extension Project Print CHARLES II Framed

We’re selling some interesting original authentic Works Project Administration WPA art from the 1930’s. This print from the MUSEUM EXTENSION PROJECT, which was a section that was created to help public schools obtain visual education aids designed to give “life and reality to the things children study.”

The print depicts the historical costumes titled CHARLES II – LOUIS XIV, 1660 AD to 1715 AD. Plate No 58 from the series.

The print particulars are:

  • It is matted and framed under glass. Glass was highly reflective making photography difficult; any shading you see is from reflection, NOT on print!
  • Visible print size measures 18″ x 24″, total size framed is 26″ x 32″.

Check out other WPA works of art in our connectibles store.
