This listing features one of the more unusual and hard-to-find vintage pins we have ever discovered. 2 figural airplanes are suspended over a round glass dome covering a unique map that depicts African countries placed right next to Paris, France. Circa 1950’s – 1960’s.

After much research, we have not been able to discover another similar one. Our best guess is that it was a promotional pin either for a travel agency or airlines; perhaps Air France when they started flying to African countries and this was a way to “connect” the 2 areas.

I have one that’s very similar however it only has one plane and it doesn’t swoop the way yours does. The plane however is exactly the same. The map is also of Africa but it of the border between Zambia and Malawi. Were you ever able to find more information about yours? I’m rather intrigued by it. To be honest I’m not even sure where I bought it. I found it in the bottom of one of my drawers! LOL!
