Singer FEATHERWEIGHT 221-1 AD790397 & RARE 1934 Manual VIDEO

We’re always excited when we find a Singer FEATHERWEIGHT Sewing Machine to offer, as we know how much they are loved! This listing features one of the EARLIEST models we’ve ever offered, highly collectible.

Details:

Singer Portable Electric Sewing Machine 221-1 in original case with accessories.  Number AD790397, with production date of November 27, 1934.  Watch video below to see how it functions.  I believe this model is even more compact that later ones; when plate is up it measures 7-1/4″ x 10-1/2″ x 10-1/2″ approximate.  See Video below:

Starts easily, appears to run smoothly, but all I did is turn it on as I am not a quilter or seamstress. Condition outside is overall very good with some light marks or scratches to glossy finish. Decals are excellent ART DECO style as you can see in photos (please scroll down & click to enlarge for details.) Medallion gold is sharp.

Has the original RARE and unusual January 1934 Manual. Singer pasted a new page 7 into their “older” manual. The pasted page contained an illustration of the Type 2 case, which was placed directly over the page that illustrated a Type 1 case. If you hold this up to the light you can see this correction, as I tried to show in photographs on eBay.

Booklet has some foxing and spotting.  VERY few of these have been found according to an expert Featherweight information site! A kind Ebayer sent me the history and you can read more at this website.

ORIGINAL Striated plate is excellent.

Original bakelite pedal good condition as well, some general scratches as shown. Plug is FRAYED as shown; we believe the white cord has been replaced; you probably will want to do the same with the black that is fraying, but it clearly works fine.

TYPE 2 carrying case is very good condition as well, clean with a very mild oil odor. Leather handle, possibly all leather on the case.
Locks are stiff – one on right may need some oiling.
ORIGINAL hard to find unusual pair of keys – authentic and guaranteed!
More compact style case than many later cases, measures 13″ x 7-1/2″ x 11″, easier to carry than the large ones.
LOTS of accessories including instructions booklet (dated 1933 but has the 1934 double page 7 as described above), attachments as shown in the photos.

TERRIFIC version of this VERY EARLY and  highly collectible Singer!
