Pictured here is a vintage Madame Alexander Cissy 21″ doll, dressed in one of the most elegant custom ball gowns I’ve come across. Redhead wig, blue eyes, jointed arms, beautiful coloring. Hair can use a bit of attention to tame the fly-away hairs, but original spitcurls are still in place.
The ball gown has MANY exquisite details. The gown is so professionally sewn that part of me believed it was a true Alexander ensemble. I’m now quite comfortable saying it is a custom hand-sewn outfit, but to the highest couture standards. Please click on the picture above to see the eBay listing with many pictures.
VERY fragile fabric on top over a cream satin background. There are a few areas where the caramel color has split or torn, showing the background. But overall this gown is excellent other than these areas of damage. Lucky winner should be careful when handling or removing it.
Lace appliques are beautiful, and the lace is repeated in the trim on the custom bloomers. Similar satin is used for the petticoat. These are in excellent condition. Bloomers are sewn on so I didn’t try to remove.
CISSY is also wearing seamed nylon stockings that are excellent, and silver sandals that have stretched out a bit. I do not know if they are original to the doll.
